About The Chef
Like most professional chefs, my love for cooking began at home, following my mom and grandmother around their kitchens. While studying for a degree in Business Administration at Sam Houston State University, I decided I really wanted to go into the restaurant business. After college graduation, I attended the Art Institute in Houston and graduated with a culinary arts degree in March 2003, and immediately began working at the Old Orange Cafe.
I purchased the Old Orange Cafe & Catering Company in January 2004, from Susan and Terry Childers. The Childers first opened the restaurant in April 1990. I was born and raised in Orange by families steeped in our town’s history – acquiring the restaurant has given me the chance to give a nod to their hard work and dedication to this community and, in the process, make contributions of my own.
That’s why you’ll see dozens of historic photographs of my ancestors and old Orange featured prominently in the restaurant. When I'm not cooking at the Old Orange Cafe & Catering Company, I love to fish and hunt.
I am a member of Coastal Conservation Association and a long-time supporter of Ducks Unlimited, currently serving as both a Life Sponsor and Board of Directors member. From our charming historic building, to our old photographs – a visit with us can be a step back in time – a time of old-fashioned service and great food served in a relaxing atmosphere. And you just might hear a fishing tale, too!
- SEE YOU SOON!
